Most court failures are not surface failures. They start underneath, where poor drainage or an inadequately compacted sub-base lets water move and the slab shift. In Northwest Washington that is the dominant risk: rainfall is heavy, the water table is high in a lot of the valley, and freeze-thaw cycling works on any crack that has already formed.
That is why the first phase of every project is a survey rather than a quote — checking slope, identifying low spots, and working out where water goes. A court built on a good base and surfaced adequately will outlast a court built on a poor base and surfaced immaculately.
Choosing between resurfacing and rebuilding
A court that has faded, lost its texture, or developed surface cracking is usually a resurfacing candidate, and resurfacing costs a fraction of a new build. A court where the slab itself has moved — wide structural cracks, sections at different heights, persistent standing water that grading cannot fix — is a different conversation.
We will tell you which one you are looking at, including when the honest answer is that resurfacing would be money spent on a surface that will crack again within a couple of seasons. Sometimes the answer is repair now and rebuild in five years, and that is a legitimate plan.

Yes. On-site estimates are free anywhere in our service area, and they are how we price accurately — drainage, access, and existing surface condition are not things anyone can judge from photographs.

Resurfacing generally runs several days to about a week on site. New construction runs two to three weeks for pickleball and basketball courts and three to five weeks for full-size tennis. Weather drives most of the variance in both cases.
